Eyes

Treated as both a diagnostic map and a directly nourishable surface. The iris reveals organ conditions, toxin deposits, and cellular vitality throughout the body; the cornea and sclera respond directly to topical raw egg white and butter.

Aajonus Vonderplanitz treated the eyes as one of the most diagnostically revealing structures in the body, and also as an organ capable of direct nutritional support through topical application. He read the iris as a map of the entire body's internal condition, understanding that the colors, textures, filaments, lesions, and discolorations visible in the iris and surrounding tissues each corresponded to specific organs, glands, toxins, and states of cellular life or death. At the same time, he regarded the external tissues of the eye, including the cornea, sclera, and eyelid surfaces, as directly accessible to raw fats and proteins that could feed and repair those tissues from the outside in, bypassing the slow and inefficient route by which nutrients typically reach ocular tissue through the body's general circulation.

His personal history with his own eyes formed a central reference point throughout his teachings. He described his eyes as having been green and brown when he was sick, shifting toward hazel as toxicity accumulated, and gradually turning blue over decades on the Primal Diet as those toxins were eliminated from his body. He used this trajectory both to illustrate the diagnostic principle that eye color reflects systemic toxicity and to demonstrate the possibility of sustained, measurable physical improvement over very long time periods. He also described having suffered direct corneal damage from the acid produced when a tumor dissolved during his cancer recovery, which resulted in eight layers of scar tissue and temporary blindness in one eye. He treated that injury without a cornea transplant and recovered meaningful vision using dietary and topical methods.

Iridology, which Aajonus practiced as a core diagnostic tool in his consultations, held that the iris was divided into zones corresponding to every organ and tissue in the body. He used Jensen's chart as his starting reference but departed from standard iridology in certain ways based on his own research. He photographed irises and magnified them substantially during consultations so that details invisible to the naked eye became legible. He combined iris analysis with palm reading to distinguish between extracellular toxicity, which showed in the iris, and intracellular toxicity, which showed more clearly in the palms. Together these two tools gave him what he described as a complete inside and outside picture of the body.

Reading The Iris Diagnostically

The iris, in Aajonus's framework, is composed of radiating fiber structures that he described as spokes or filaments extending outward from the pupil. The density, clarity, and continuity of those filaments indicate the degree of cellular life in corresponding zones of the body. Where filaments radiate densely and uniformly, the tissue they represent is alive and functional. Where filaments begin to fade, thin, or disappear, dead or non-functioning cells exist in the corresponding tissue. Where the area goes completely dark without any visible fiber structure, third-degree lesions are present, representing the most severe cellular degeneration.

He divided lesion severity into degrees. A first-degree lesion retains some fiber structure. A second-degree lesion shows significant loss of fiber and increasing darkness. A third-degree lesion shows no fibers at all, only a flat dark space. He described a healthy eye as one with abundant, consistent filaments radiating all the way from the pupil to the outer edge of the iris, reaching into what he called the skin zone at the outer rim.

To estimate how alive a person's body was, he counted the percentage of fibers still present in each eye, broke the eye into segments corresponding to different body regions, and calculated cellular vitality independently for the right and left sides of the body. In one example he described, a person had 57 percent of cells alive on the right side of the body, with 42 percent health in those living cells, and 42 percent of cells alive on the left side with 65 percent health in those cells. The outer half of either eye's iris circle corresponds to the same side of the body, while the inner half corresponds to the opposite side. He noted that a small number of people are born with a mutation in which the entire eye maps to the same side of the body, and he described a test using finger tracking to identify which mapping applies to a given individual.

The pupil itself corresponded to the stomach in his system. A flat black pupil is normal. When he saw shiny green, silver, or lavender colors behind or within the pupil, he identified that as mercury, formaldehyde, and aluminum contamination from vaccines, which he said he saw in 99 percent of all irises he examined. He reported that in autopsies he examined, every stomach lining carried residues of those same three substances, confirming the iris reading.

Eye Color Indicates Toxicity

Aajonus held that there are only three natural, healthy eye colors: blue, amber, and hazel. He later simplified this further, stating in some passages that there are only two clean colors, blue and amber, with hazel representing a state of negative acidity throughout the tissues. He was explicit that dark brown eyes and black eyes are not natural baseline colors but are instead signs of massive toxicity accumulated in the body. He stated that brown eyes should be amber when clean. He stated that black eyes do not exist in a healthy body.

His own eyes began as blue in childhood, turned yellow-green, then partially brown during the period of his worst illness and cancer, and gradually returned through green and then to blue again as he cleaned out over decades on raw foods. He described this trajectory as taking more than 40 years in his own case. He showed photographs of a woman who was born with black eyes due to severe placental contamination from her mother's college-era drinking and smoking during the first five months of an unrecognized pregnancy. After seven years on the diet, that woman's eyes were blue and orange, and he said another 30 to 40 years would be needed before they were fully blue.

He described his girlfriend, who had dark brown eyes full of what he called plaque and garbage, with one sister having hazel eyes and another having blue. He traced the dark eye color to the parents' high toxicity and the household diet of microwave food and fast food. He described a woman who grew up in central London near four airports, inhaling jet fuel and heavy metals for approximately 30 years, who came to him at 34 with black eyes that should have been blue.

He described the specific toxins that produce particular colors in the iris. Yellow in the eye indicates penicillin growing throughout the tissues. If a person's eyes are supposed to be blue but appear green, the body is full of penicillin from antibiotic injections, which he said he had never found absent from anyone's iris in 30 years of looking. Brown spots correspond to penicillin stored in a localized area. Black areas beneath the brown indicate mercury from vaccines or other injections, with the body using oxidized iodine or iron to seal those deposits. He stated that people who have the largest amounts of penicillin proliferating in their tissue are the ones with fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue.

He described the diagnostic significance of dark circles under the eyes as usually indicating a toxic liver, unless the person was a boxer or fighter whose circles came from physical impact.

Toxins And Eye Color Changes

The mechanism Aajonus described for eye color change is the gradual accumulation or removal of toxins stored in the iris tissue itself and in the body generally. When toxins accumulate extracellularly, that is, on the walls of cells rather than inside them, they produce discoloration visible in the iris. When toxins are stored intracellularly, inside cells, the eyes may not change color even though the person is highly toxic, because the toxins are concealed within the cells rather than deposited on their surfaces. He explained this in response to a question about why some people with blue eyes who are heavily toxic never see their eyes turn brown, while others do. He stated that intracellular storage corresponds to normally colored eyes, while extracellular storage corresponds to discolored irises.

He described intestinal impaction as visible in the iris as dark brown coloration around the pupil. In a brown-eyed person, healthy clean iris tissue appears as amber to light brown. Deep, very dark brown in a brown-eyed person indicates negative acidity in those tissues. In blue or green-eyed persons, brown coloration in the iris always indicates negative acidity. Green appearing in a naturally blue eye indicates systemic negative acidity throughout the tissues.

He showed audience members a woman whose iris photographs taken years apart showed the progressive clearing of toxins, with areas transitioning from dark toward blue as the diet eliminated those deposits. He described his own iris photographs taken before and after a forced injection he received, which caused his irises, which had been blue, to return to a metal-contaminated gray with tarnished-looking toxins. He wrote that his eyes had not looked like that since before the late 1980s, and that it would take approximately seven years to reverse the damage. He described the photographs showing mass cellular death, organic debris, and scarring in the iris tissue, with his cellular vitality dropping from approximately 87 percent alive to approximately 73 percent alive.

The Iris Reveals Organ Conditions

The liver appears in the iris at approximately the 7:45 position according to his use of Jensen's chart, though he noted he made adjustments based on his own research. In a person with a healthy liver, the area at that position is light and free of brown coloration or lesions. In an unhealthy liver, brown coloration, dark lesions, or disrupted fiber structure appears there.

The intestinal tract shows as a ring around the pupil, which in a healthy person is relatively clean. When the intestinal walls are compromised, that ring appears brown or disrupted. He described a vegetarian who had done many cleansing diets whose irises were largely clean throughout except for the entire digestive ring, which was solidly brown, indicating that his stomach, small intestines, and colon were all highly acidic and poorly functioning despite the rest of his tissues appearing relatively clean.

Red lines in the whites of the eyes indicate poor blood quality. He distinguished this from a structural cardiovascular blockage, clarifying that the redness indicates the quality of the blood is bad rather than necessarily that the cardiovascular system is obstructed. He described a situation where chemical damage from asbestos exposure could show in the whites of the eyes. He also noted that during detoxification, especially during flu-like detox events when toxins are dumping rapidly into the bloodstream, eyes become bloodshot. Jaundice and hepatitis cause the whites of the eyes to turn yellow, indicating that the lymph system is breaking down and that lesions are present in it.

He described what he called worry circles, which most iridologists call stress rings, as rings visible in the iris that indicate the body's hormonal production level. He stated that the number of worry circles corresponds to how much or how little hormone the body produces. He clarified that he preferred not to call them stress rings because that phrase implies the person has no control, whereas the circles simply indicate hormonal output level.

The presence of penicillin shows as yellow throughout the iris tissue. He stated that everyone he had examined over 30 years showed signs of penicillin in their bodies, with variation only in the amount. He explained that antibiotics kill the mold but sterilize it by destroying its RNA and DNA, causing it to go into hibernation in the body permanently unless specific steps are taken to remove it. The people with the highest amounts correspond to those with fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue.

Topical Egg White Eye Treatments

Aajonus's primary topical treatment for the eyes was raw egg white applied directly to the eye surface. He described the chemistry of raw egg white as almost identical to that of tears but with more protein, making it a direct nutritional support for the eye's external tissues including the cornea, iris, and sclera. He stated that egg white soothes, relaxes, and feeds the eye, primarily through the protein it provides.

The method of application he described was to crack an egg slightly, let the white out into a cup or onto a finger, pull the lower eyelid down, look upward, rub the egg white along the white of the eye, then roll the eye around in all directions to coat the entire surface. He said the process takes about three minutes for the egg white to absorb. He said not to rinse it out afterward, only to wipe away any residue from the eyelashes and outer edges so that the dried egg white does not flake visibly.

He described the clinical result of egg white in the eye as follows: redness disappears within about 20 minutes of application. Vision clears within about two to three minutes of application after any initial cloudiness. The eyes become less sensitive to bright sunlight. He stated that anyone who does this will typically see improvement. He described a woman who was motivated by vanity, not wanting her red eyes to make her look intoxicated in front of a jury, who applied egg white consistently and achieved notably improved eyes from this alone.

He recommended egg white in the eye at least once daily, with twice daily being more helpful for conditions involving internal damage such as retinal bulging. He described using an eye dropper to put two drops in each eye, rolling the eye around for about a minute, then allowing it to absorb completely without rinsing.

He specified not to use high-meat or fermented eggs in the eye because the bacterial content is too high for the eye's environment. He stated that fungus and bacteria can work in the eye, and virus particles can work in the eye, but parasites are not typically found in the eye.

For vision problems caused by coconut cream driving toxins from the brain out through the tear ducts, he also recommended egg white in the eyes once daily, especially before bedtime.

Topical Eye Treatments With Butter

The second topical treatment Aajonus described was unsalted raw butter applied to the eye, particularly at night before sleeping. He described butter as working differently from egg white, characterizing egg white as primarily soothing, feeding, and strengthening the eye through protein, while butter strengthens and repairs the eye through fat, and also has a cleansing action on the eye.

The application method he described was to hold a dab of butter in the palm of the hand until it melts to a liquid state, which he said takes about one minute. Then pull the lower eyelid down, rub the liquefied butter along the inner surface of the lower lid and along the white of the eye, then roll the eye around to distribute the butter over the entire eye surface. He said to do this before getting into bed because the butter blurs vision for approximately 30 minutes to an hour.

He described sheep's butter as slightly more effective than cow's butter for this purpose. He recommended doing the butter application at night and egg white in the morning, or alternating days, or doing both in sequence. He cautioned against leaving butter that has been sitting out at room temperature for extended periods, as the acidity increases and can irritate an eye that does not produce adequate tears.

He described a case of corneal damage from butter: when he had the cancer that destroyed part of his nose, acid from the dissolving tumor ran into his eye one night and burned the cornea, creating eight layers of scar tissue and leaving him blind in that eye. An optometrist told him the only solution was a cornea transplant. Seven years later, the scar tissue was visible in his blown-up iris photographs, and he was working to dissolve it through dietary and topical means, though he acknowledged it would take considerable time.

He stated that butter and egg white in the eye are effective for the cornea, iris, and sclera, and that the retina is too deep to be reached directly, though he added that when egg white is applied twice daily, it is absorbed into the white tissues and into the eyelid tissue and then processed by the body, which does deliver some benefit to the retina indirectly.

Topical Treatments For Active Detox

When the eyes are actively detoxifying, such as when acidity is being dumped through the tear ducts, Aajonus recommended putting butter in the eyes at night specifically to counteract the acidic discharge. He described this scenario as the tear ducts releasing significant acidity during a detox cycle, which the butter neutralizes and which provides protective fat to the tissues being exposed to that acid.

He stated that when toxins are actively discharging through the eyes, causing weeping, irritation, light sensitivity, or blurry vision, this is not a pathological failure but the body's detoxification process at work. He told one person who described their right eye feeling like someone was blowing cool air into it, becoming weepy, light sensitive, and having a small focusing problem, that this sounded like the eye was detoxifying through the cornea, and recommended the butter protocol as described above, specifically pulling the lower eyelid down, rubbing butter onto the lid, lifting both lids, and rolling the eyes to distribute it, then leaving it in without rinsing.

Eye Conditions Treatment Protocols

**Cataracts.** Aajonus described cataracts as the collection of organic waste clouding the cornea and the crystalline lens of the eye, and as the most common cause of blindness. He identified two main populations who develop cataracts. The first is hyperactive individuals with high adrenaline levels who constantly exhaust their blood fat levels; the second is diabetics in whom improperly assimilated sugars and medicinal insulin deprive the eyes of certain nutrients. He described cataracts as resulting from those eyes being completely deprived of those nutrients.

**Blurry vision and vision impairment.** He described blurry vision accompanying eyestrain as often being a red meat deficiency. He recommended eating red meat with unheated honey to correct blurred vision. He described red meat as somehow maintaining the muscles of the eye better than white meats do, even though theoretically white meats would seem more appropriate given the eye's high nerve content. He found in his experiments with people with blurry vision and eye problems that red meat consistently helped more than white meats.

He described a case of a woman with very thick prescription lenses who applied egg white to her eyes daily and butter twice a week for a five-year period, and went from coke-bottle-thick glasses to very thin glasses over that time.

For eyestrain generally, he recommended getting sleep, getting plenty of sunshine, and eating red and orange live foods including raw fresh tuna, raw fresh salmon, tomatoes, raw carrot juice, oranges, watermelon, and cantaloupe. He also recommended unsalted raw butter.

**Night blindness.** He described night blindness as distorted vision including distorted depth perception in dark or dim light. He said the condition mainly results from low protein levels in the blood. He recommended drinking a blended combination of fresh raw lemon juice, two to three raw eggs, and one to three tablespoons of unheated honey to alkalize the fluids in the eyeballs. He recommended eating raw red meat to gradually improve vision including depth perception. He recommended drinking raw carrot juice for general eye health, with raw watercress juice added to increase healing specifically for night blindness. He suggested adding four tablespoons of raw cream or two tablespoons of unsalted raw butter to one cup of carrot juice for better eye health generally.

**Eye inflammation and irritation.** He directed readers to the same remedies as conjunctivitis for eye inflammation and irritation.

**Conjunctivitis.** He described conjunctivitis as occurring when the cornea has been damaged in some way and the body is attempting to eliminate toxicity that has entered the cornea, working directly on the cornea to address that damage. He stated that egg white corrects conjunctivitis.

**Red eyes.** He said egg white applied to the eye removes redness within about 20 minutes. He described butter as also strengthening the eye and helping with redness over time.

**Itchy and watery eyes.** He recommended egg white applied two to three times daily, using approximately half a teaspoon in an eye cup, holding the head back and rolling the eye around to coat the entire surface.

**Detached retina.** He addressed a person asking about a condition behind the retina creating a bulge, and recommended egg white applied twice daily, along with red meat daily to stabilize the eye condition.

**Corneal damage.** He described his personal recovery from eight layers of corneal scar tissue using dietary and topical means, without undergoing a transplant. He described the process as taking years and said scar tissue visible in his iris photographs was still present and he was working to dissolve it.

**Contact lens solution.** He warned that many contact lens solutions contain thimerosal, which is liquid mercury. He described an alternative of distilled water with a few grains of sea salt to create a pure saline solution. He said aloe vera juice can be placed in the eye and contacts worn over it. He noted that butter and egg white create a film incompatible with contact lenses.

Red Meat and the Eyes

Aajonus described a specific and somewhat counterintuitive finding from his work with people with eye problems: red meat consistently helped more than white meats in strengthening and stabilizing the eye musculature, even though the eye contains very high concentrations of nerve tissue and white meat generally feeds nerve and connective tissue more effectively than red meat does. He said the eye, despite being composed of muscle, does not behave like other muscles in the body in its response to dietary meats. He concluded from his experiments that red meat creates something important specifically for the eye, and recommended at least four ounces of red meat daily for anyone dealing with eye problems including deteriorating eyesight. He specifically mentioned steak tartare, ideally prepared with egg yolk rather than egg white alone.

Dietary Influences on Eye Health

Beyond red meat, he identified protein deficiency generally as a driver of vision impairment. In situations where vision is a significant problem, he said he advised eating lots of protein. He identified coconut cream consumed in large amounts as a potential cause of temporary vision blurring by driving toxins from the brain out through the tear ducts, affecting vision temporarily, and suggested limiting coconut cream to no more than two tablespoons daily if the eyes are getting worse while consuming it.

He described oysters as a protein source that facilitates fat digestion and utilization, which is important because the eye depends on the body's ability to utilize fats. He described the eye as an organ whose nutrient supply is slow and indirect because food reaches it last in the chain of where nutrients travel. This is why direct topical application, bypassing that chain, is so effective in his view.

He recommended raw carrot juice for general eye health, with raw watercress juice added for enhanced healing, and fats added to the carrot juice either as four tablespoons of raw cream or two tablespoons of unsalted raw butter per cup of juice.

The Iris Records Contamination

Aajonus described seeing signs of vaccine contamination in virtually every iris he examined. He identified the shiny green, silver, and lavender colors visible behind or within the pupil as corresponding to the mercury, formaldehyde, and aluminum contained in vaccines. He said he could see this in 99 percent of all irises he examined. He confirmed this reading through his examination of 32 cadavers in which every stomach lining was heavily contaminated with those same three substances.

He described industrial solvents appearing in the iris as mucky, dark discoloration. He described heavy metals from metal containers, food processing equipment, and environmental pollution appearing as dark deposits throughout the iris. He described a woman whose iris was full of industrial solvents and heavy metals from processed foods, with the iris appearing mucky overall, and noted that his own eyes used to be darker than hers before the Primal Diet progressively cleared them.

He described a woman with iron and iodine that had oxidized and gone black in her eyes, appearing as black layers within what should have been blue irises, from decades of inhaling jet fuel exhaust in London.

He described his own forced injection experience in which his iris photographs taken afterward showed his eyes returning to metal-contaminated gray with tarnished-looking toxins, and estimated it would take approximately seven years to reverse that contamination through the diet.

Iridology's Diagnostic Methodology

Aajonus described his consultation process as beginning with photographing both irises and then magnifying the photographs so that details as small as a pinprick in the eye appeared as large as a finger. This allowed him to see all details of extracellular conditions throughout the body. He described the process of combining this iris reading with palm reading to identify intracellular conditions, so that the two together created a complete picture.

He described taking patients to public places such as Venice Beach to practice reading irises on homeless people, using coded language with his students so as not to alarm the subjects, pointing out specific toxins and conditions visible in the irises of each person as a teaching exercise.

He described seeing the history of disease in the iris, including being able to identify that a woman who came to him for a consult had cancer of the hip bone, the right breast, and the kidney and adrenal gland, all on the right side, by looking at the corresponding areas of her iris. He described being able to see the movement toward cancer in those areas before it was definitively established.

He described being able to identify from the irises alone when someone's organs and glands appeared 30 years younger than their chronological age, as in the case of a man in his late forties whose irises showed the internal health of a 30-year-old despite his skin and exterior appearance suggesting a much harder life.

He noted that healthy irises show complete, solid filaments radiating outward from the pupil with no yellow, green, brown, white, or dark discolorations and no telltale shapes indicating disease or toxicity. He described this as extremely rare in modern people, seen occasionally only in indigenous people living far from industrial exposure.
